Power of Biblical Humility 2 of 5: No Reputation

2/17/2025

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: - Philippians 2:5-7

Humility does not lower the importance or level of our abilities. Yet, it does point to the one that "shines" when our abilities are displayed. This aspect of humility focuses on the phrase in verse 7 which says that the master "made Himself of no reputation". The Greek word used means "to make empty".

Are Emotions Harmful?

Emotions are beautiful, God-given, and vital for spirit beings to stay connected with this natural (human) experience. They are used to help us develop in our relationships, to motivate us to move with compassion in helping others, or even simple things like enjoying a sunset or a snowfall and so much more.

Power of Biblical Humility 1 of 5: What is it?

But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. - James 4:6,7

Humility is one of the most essential character qualities of the believer and allows us to properly respond to spiritual promptings. Humility and Power may sound funny together but Biblical humility is all
about empowerment. Humility at its core deals with “lowering one's self”. Not much power in that, right? Yet, in our reference verse, James 4:6, it tells us that God gives “grace to the humble”.

Faith in Flight: Birds in The Word

Like birds flying about, So will the Lord of hosts defend Jerusalem. Defending, He will also deliver it; Passing over, He will preserve it.” - Isaiah 31:5

Many truths were communicated in the scriptures through observing natural processes or animals. These parables, proverbs or metaphors can speak great faith into the believer. For this writing, allow the scriptures to speak faith into your life by these “birds in the word” and may the Father’s grace guide you into all truth that you may grow and increase thereby.

Faith for Fulfillment and Favor in Marriage

Honor marriage, and guard the sacredness of sexual intimacy between wife and husband. God draws a firm line against casual and illicit sex. Hebrews 13:4 (Message)

Meditate on these following verses and personalize them. Don't focus on the current state of the relationship: "What she doesn't do"; "What he did"; "She doesn't trust me"; "He takes me for granted"; "She's always complaining"; "He's only intimate for sex";  and on and on. These may be valid thoughts and feelings, but what we dwell on we empower to grow. You cannot "change" someone else but the word can change you both. See what the word declares as spiritual truth that is coming to be naturally seen as you draw it out with faith. Speak healing, forgiveness, and renewal. Speak, believe and stand. You may be directed for a faith filled action or faith filled silence. You will know. Let God flow.

Fig Tree Discourse part 3: From the roots

And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it. Mark 11:14

Since we now can see that Jesus’ words had immediate effect, even if those effects were not immediately seen (part 2), let’s look more closely at the process by which His faith filled words worked:

And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. - Mark 11:20

The way that many of us and most of the medical establishment deals with sickness and illnesses is quite backwards. If someone has a headache, they may call the headache the problem or if someone has a fever, they may call the fever the problem. Yet, for the most part these are not problems but signs of a problem.

Fig Tree Discourse part 2: It’s Working

And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it. Mark 11:14

After Jesus answered this fig tree, it is vital for the scriptures to note that the disciples heard what Jesus spoke. The account recorded in Matthew adds this phrase: “…and presently the fig tree withered away” (Matt 21:19). The word “presently” is key and potentially could cause confusion.

Fig Tree Discourse part 1: Answering Things

And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it. Mark 11:14

The context of this verse is really tied to verse 13 which says, “And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.”

One may first ask that if “the time of figs was not yet” then why did the master expect to see figs? Background study shows that the fig tree produces two types of figs: One, the early fig (also referred to as “winter” or “green” figs) called “paggim” which were a smaller fig produced on the strength of nutrients left in the branch during the winter, and the second was the full fig which was produced later after the leaves. So, ultimately, although it was not time for the “full” figs, if it had leaves it was communicating that it at least had early figs.

Taking Thoughts Captive part 6 – Every Thought?

And bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ – 2 Corinthians 10:5b

More and more, the Lord is revealing that our lives follow the path of our most dominant thoughts. This is not said to put anyone in condemnation for some of the hardships that they may have experienced, but to say that we need to take responsibility for the way that we think and the thoughts that we allow because they do have great and lasting impact on our lives.
