Like birds flying about, So will the Lord of hosts defend Jerusalem. Defending, He will also deliver it; Passing over, He will preserve it.” - Isaiah 31:5 Many truths were communicated in the scriptures through observing natural processes or animals. These parables, proverbs or metaphors can speak great faith into the believer. For this writing, allow the scriptures to speak faith into your life by these “birds in the word” and may the Father’s grace guide you into all truth that you may grow and increase thereby.

And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it. Mark 11:14 After Jesus answered this fig tree, it is vital for the scriptures to note that the disciples heard what Jesus spoke. The account recorded in Matthew adds this phrase: “…and presently the fig tree withered away” (Matt 21:19). The word “presently” is key and potentially could cause confusion. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. – Romans 8:18 Perspective is everything. Another key in taking thoughts captive and keeping our minds from being overburdened with care and worry concerning what we may be currently facing is building up our hope and expectation on what God has before us – waaay over. But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you. Romans 10:19
Since the Jews knew that God would embrace a nation that did not adhere to the rites and ceremonies that were delivered to them, then it should have been evident that these things were not prerequisites to salvation or coming to righteousness with God. "For with the heart man believes unto righteousness" says Romans 10:10. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord - James 1:6.7 Some may say “Oh when I pray, I just ask and leave it up to God ‘cause He knows best.” Well certainly He does but praying “if it’s the Lord’s will” works with goals and planning (James 4:15) but, sorry, according to the scriptures that’s not good enough concerning what He expressly tells us. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? - Matthew 14:31 This verse is from the passage where the disciples were on a boat at night and Jesus comes to them walking on the water. Seeing that they were troubled, the Lord calls out to them, “Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. “ (v.27) Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. – Mark 11:24 It is unfortunate that many think that “having faith” requires us to trust God not knowing what to expect next. If we carry this thought out, it could lead us to a place where we believe that God wants us to live in uncertainty to prove our faith for Him. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. - Revelation 21:5
There are a few different Greek words used for “new” in the New Testament and they all bring out different points of emphasis. There is new in terms of age; new as to say “another one” or something done again; and And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end: (12) That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises. – Hebrews 6: 11-12 Time can wear on us all: believing, waiting, standing, confessing, walking, etc. Yet, do not become swayed or dismayed about the surety of the promises of God. |
