For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh - 2 Corinthians 10:3 Naturally, there will be times of disagreements, confrontations, and words spoken without the loving attitude that we would like but that is not what this writing is addressing. This “Taking Thoughts” section is dealing with after the initial words have been said or offensive action made. Many times we do the right thing in holding our tongue at the time of the trial. But then afterwards…

Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath Ephesians 4:26
Many take this verse to think that it’s okay to be angry, mad and begrudging of others ALL day…just as long as you take care of it by night time. I realize that even some bible translations imply this. Yet, this is a misconception that not only can be tremendously faith hindering, but also goes against the unity But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you. Romans 10:19
Since the Jews knew that God would embrace a nation that did not adhere to the rites and ceremonies that were delivered to them, then it should have been evident that these things were not prerequisites to salvation or coming to righteousness with God. "For with the heart man believes unto righteousness" says Romans 10:10. He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see. – John 9:25
The text above refers to an account in John chapter 9 when Jesus anointed the eyes of a man blind from birth with a clay and spittle mix. After the man washed, he came back seeing. This was a miracle that could not be kept quiet since neighbors knew this man as a blind beggar for many years. Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah. – Psalm 32:7 When a scandal breaks in the news, we find that the attempt to conceal the evidence of wrongdoing is often even more scandalous than the original wrong deeds. Interestingly enough, it is commonly referred to as a “cover-up”. Adam was involved in a “cover-up” in the garden, God called out to Adam in Genesis 3 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? - Romans 8:31 One of the most vital things for a believer to grasp is an understanding of who they are in Christ. Security in this knowledge gives a broad foundation to stand, trust, and move through faith in God’s love and promises. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: - . Psalm 23:5a
This verse really gets into the nature of God’s provision. Those that believe that God’s will for His people is about “just getting by” are not really reading this book! |
