Like birds flying about, So will the Lord of hosts defend Jerusalem. Defending, He will also deliver it; Passing over, He will preserve it.” - Isaiah 31:5 Many truths were communicated in the scriptures through observing natural processes or animals. These parables, proverbs or metaphors can speak great faith into the believer. For this writing, allow the scriptures to speak faith into your life by these “birds in the word” and may the Father’s grace guide you into all truth that you may grow and increase thereby.

And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it. Mark 11:14 Since we now can see that Jesus’ words had immediate effect, even if those effects were not immediately seen (part 2), let’s look more closely at the process by which His faith filled words worked: And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots. - Mark 11:20 The way that many of us and most of the medical establishment deals with sickness and illnesses is quite backwards. If someone has a headache, they may call the headache the problem or if someone has a fever, they may call the fever the problem. Yet, for the most part these are not problems but signs of a problem. And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it. Mark 11:14 After Jesus answered this fig tree, it is vital for the scriptures to note that the disciples heard what Jesus spoke. The account recorded in Matthew adds this phrase: “…and presently the fig tree withered away” (Matt 21:19). The word “presently” is key and potentially could cause confusion. For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh - 2 Corinthians 10:3 Naturally, there will be times of disagreements, confrontations, and words spoken without the loving attitude that we would like but that is not what this writing is addressing. This “Taking Thoughts” section is dealing with after the initial words have been said or offensive action made. Many times we do the right thing in holding our tongue at the time of the trial. But then afterwards… For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. – Romans 8:18 Perspective is everything. Another key in taking thoughts captive and keeping our minds from being overburdened with care and worry concerning what we may be currently facing is building up our hope and expectation on what God has before us – waaay over. But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you. Romans 10:19
Since the Jews knew that God would embrace a nation that did not adhere to the rites and ceremonies that were delivered to them, then it should have been evident that these things were not prerequisites to salvation or coming to righteousness with God. "For with the heart man believes unto righteousness" says Romans 10:10. He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see. – John 9:25
The text above refers to an account in John chapter 9 when Jesus anointed the eyes of a man blind from birth with a clay and spittle mix. After the man washed, he came back seeing. This was a miracle that could not be kept quiet since neighbors knew this man as a blind beggar for many years. “…he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.” – Psalm 121: 3b-4 When it comes to watching over His people, God is completely and totally aware of what is going on in our lives at all times. The word “slumber” here is given in the same sense of “nodding off.” In other words He doesn’t get tired and doesn’t get weary. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven - Matt 5:16 Ok, so many of us grew up with the song, “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.” Yet, why is the word “little” in there? It’s not in the scripture. It comes from the same place where a great singer while preparing to sing may say, “Y’all pray for me. My voice is a little hoarse today”…and then proceeds to WRECK the house. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? - Matthew 14:31 This verse is from the passage where the disciples were on a boat at night and Jesus comes to them walking on the water. Seeing that they were troubled, the Lord calls out to them, “Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. “ (v.27) |
