Like birds flying about, So will the Lord of hosts defend Jerusalem. Defending, He will also deliver it; Passing over, He will preserve it.” - Isaiah 31:5 Many truths were communicated in the scriptures through observing natural processes or animals. These parables, proverbs or metaphors can speak great faith into the believer. For this writing, allow the scriptures to speak faith into your life by these “birds in the word” and may the Father’s grace guide you into all truth that you may grow and increase thereby.

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God – 2 Corinthians 10:5a Before we come to the focal “b” portion of 2 Corinthians 10:5 (coming up in part 6) let’s pause to bring clarity to some of part “a”. The Apostle Paul was primarily writing here in concern of defending the Gospel against systems of worldly philosophy that he had been encountering. For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh - 2 Corinthians 10:3 Naturally, there will be times of disagreements, confrontations, and words spoken without the loving attitude that we would like but that is not what this writing is addressing. This “Taking Thoughts” section is dealing with after the initial words have been said or offensive action made. Many times we do the right thing in holding our tongue at the time of the trial. But then afterwards… Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath Ephesians 4:26
Many take this verse to think that it’s okay to be angry, mad and begrudging of others ALL day…just as long as you take care of it by night time. I realize that even some bible translations imply this. Yet, this is a misconception that not only can be tremendously faith hindering, but also goes against the unity Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright. – Psalm 33:1
Praise acknowledges God’s goodness and His good works. Through praise we express our thanks for His love, grace and faithfulness towards us. It also is a wonderful way to build our trust in Him because we can grow to stay committed to praise beyond our current feelings or what we may be facing personally even when we don’t “feel” His goodness. But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you. Romans 10:19
Since the Jews knew that God would embrace a nation that did not adhere to the rites and ceremonies that were delivered to them, then it should have been evident that these things were not prerequisites to salvation or coming to righteousness with God. "For with the heart man believes unto righteousness" says Romans 10:10. |
