For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. - Jeremiah 29:11 The word interpreted as “thoughts” here in the King James is also rendered as “plans” in other translations. It is a Hebrew word that means both my “intentions” and my “inventions.” When we are not experiencing what the word declares as "God's best" in our lives, sometimes it is of the cunning thievery of the adversary. Other times we may be in a place of spiritual insensitivity and just miss it. Nevertheless, His word and will has not changed. He is intending peace and not inventing evil. Don’t be ashamed and don’t be dismayed. Remember that “our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory” (2 Corinthians 4:17). Look to His grace, seek His heart and make His thoughts yours.
Lord, thank you for your plans over our lives. We realize that we may not understand why everything happens in this life, but we are assured that your plans are always to prosper us and never harm us. You are not the thief who comes to take from us. You are always giving and we receive the hope and future that you have for us. By faith we resist anything that comes to steal our peace, our joy, and our health; and we depend on your power to deliver us from every assault of evil. We pray for wisdom to get out of our own way and to turn from destructive thinking and behavior that may hinder us from seeing the fullness of your love and plan in our lives. We receive in the name of Yahshua (Jesus). Psalm 119:116; Philippians 1:20; 1 Peter 5:8
