about empowerment. Humility at its core deals with “lowering one's self”. Not much power in that, right? Yet, in our reference verse, James 4:6, it tells us that God gives “grace to the humble”. Looking at our illustration above you can see that the king is bestowing “knighthood” upon the bowing soldier. As he bows the king “anoints” the soldier with a new and greater title, honor, and status. Now imagine if the soldier comes as he is beckoned by the king but then refuses to bow... By that action he declares that what he has is good enough and all he needs. He declares himself self-sufficient, self-reliant, and a fool.
Biblical humility can be summed up as “lowering one's self for the purpose of taking on something greater.” God has already anointed the believer through Christ. His divine power has given us all things pertaining to life and godliness (2 Pet. 1:3) and He has blessed us with all spiritual blessings (Eph. 1:3). Humility aligns us with receiving and bringing to manifestation these reserved empowerments and enablements that we may live and operate beyond our abilities. “Grace to the humble”. Thank you Father for your patient, love and grace. Your loving-kindness is better than life. It is so freeing to know that I don't have to have all of the answers and that I can lower myself, my ways, and my will to You and You bestow upon me Your greater. I receive Your greater wisdom for my ignorance, Your greater direction for my waywardness, and Your greater comfort for my storms. Thank you for showing me that there is power available for my life as I walk in humble submission to You. In the name of Yahshua (Jesus) I pray. My life is not my own. I have been bought with a price. I don't put any trust in my skills, abilities, or resources. I lower myself that I may put on and move by God's greater which never fails. I also refuse to give any significant place to my trials and difficulties. I am not acting like they don't exist but I choose to lower myself and my fears concerning them that I may put on my God's greater solutions and remedies. My efforts alone will always leave me lacking. His anointing fills me to more than enough in every area of my life. 2 Peter 1:3; Ephesians 1:3; Picture source - http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/knight_000001_9510.JPG
