Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life – Psalm 23:6a This Hebrew word rendered “surely” does not just communicate certainty but also it is a limiting particle that expresses exclusiveness. So, the passage could be expanded to begin with, “surely goodness and mercy and ONLY goodness and mercy…” Now, religious views may want to say that this “goodness” is all about spiritual goodness. But the same way that “surely” is exclusive (as in only), this “goodness” is inclusive, as in “all the good.” good, goods, good things, good people, good happenings, good occurrences, and certainly good health. My last faith note for this section is on the word “follow.” A friend of mine recently said “What’s so big about goodness following. I would rather it catch me sometime.” I agree. And looking up the word, to my joy, this is exactly what it means. Not just follow but pursue, chase, hunt and (my favorite) to run after with hostile intent. Wow, this can add so much depth to our faith building, doubt-killing, daily professions.
Father I thank you for the assignment of goodness and mercy on my life. They are hunting me down where ever I go. They are fierce, relentless, and never rest until they are seen in abundance in my life and all over the works of my hands. They bring beautiful things, bountiful things, precious things, beneficial things, and the best things. Yet, I realize that if I pursue them I cause them to operate in reverse and they flee from me, but as I seek your kingdom I empower them to pursue me all the more. In the name of Yahshua (Jesus) I pray and receive this truth into my heart. At the authority of the Word of God, only goodness and mercy follow me. Only goodness and mercy follow. Disease and sickness, you cannot follow me. Stress and worry, you cannot follow me. Lack and loss, you cannot follow me. The so-called Murphy’s Law (whatever can go wrong, will go wrong) you cannot follow me. Generational curses, you cannot follow me. If you are affecting my life then you are doing it illegally and I resist you, command you to cease, and cast you far from me now. I do not doubt that what I have declared shall come to pass and be seen. Psalm 91:7; Matt 6:33; Phil 4:8;
