Taking Thoughts Captive part 4 – Our warfare, God’s weapons

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds – 2 Corinthians 10:4

From the time we get up in the morning until the time we lay down there will be a continual stream of thoughts coming at us and one of the things that we have attempted to show in this series is just how ill-equipped we actually are at handling our own mind… on our own. For example, I may consider myself a good driver but that doesn’t mean that I’m ready to go NASCAR, and

efficiently drive a car that goes in excess of 200 mph (decisions), not to speak of the intensity of the turns (life), and the aggressively trained competition (satan). I continue to say that living a godly life is not hard… It is IMPOSSIBLE (which is the whole point of His grace) and in the moment that we feel that we can “handle it” we become failure on the way to a fall.

Now let’s take this further. If we were honest with ourselves we would also admit that there are specific areas in our thought-life that routinely get the upper hand on us (or at least more than we would like.) Whether it’s the appearance of our bodies, the level of our “smarts” or abilities, controlling our flesh concerning addictions or lust, what we have, what we’ve done, and on and on, we know internally that our forward progression in life is affected by these areas. These are strongholds which are like Jericho, high-walled forts or entrenched, fortified areas that are impossible to break into and resistant to move.

With all that said, please remember that the life of the believer is not about trying harder to overcome. It’s about trusting more to be empowered to overcome with something that is designed to work for us, beyond us. As a matter of fact, it does not have its basis in the “carnal” or natural realm at all. It is in trusting to receive power beyond ourselves which has already been made available for us through the grace of God by putting faith in His word.

The scriptures are not man made, but rather they are God-breathed and man recorded without error or contradiction. The word of God has stood the test of time not because of religion or religious people but because it is God-empowered to do what it says if we will trust what it says. Just remember that no matter how powerful the weapon, someone still has to use it to get the victory.      

Mighty and loving God, with tremendous pleasure we thank you for filling us with your love and grace. We are thankful the no matter what we face in life, you have pre-ordained a weapon to be used to bring us to victory. Even when we suffer great loss, all is not lost. You continue to lift us, encourage us, and fortify us like no one else. How wonderful are your ways and how magnificent is your love. Now Lord, specifically in the area of the keeping of our minds and the consistency of thinking Godly thoughts, by your grace, please continue to lead us in plain paths and we receive by faith the manifestation of your wisdom and strength to overcome every obstacle, hurdle, and stronghold in our life by only believing and never doubting that what you have given us WILL WORK FOR US. Again, we love you and we trust your love for us. In the name of Yahshua (Jesus).  Amen!

In the name of Yahshua (Jesus), the weapons that I use to overcome and see victory in my thought-life are not naturally based or of worldly power. I put no faith in will power, I put no faith in positive thinking, I put no faith in my education, I put no faith in laws of attraction, My faith is in almighty GOD, who designed me and purposed me to prosper in Him and affect other around me through the divine weapon of His WORD. The word is already established and empowered to work on my behalf, and I submit and give way to allow it to have its full affect on my thinking and my life as a whole. Thoughts of failure, you will trouble me no more! Thoughts of having not enough and being not enough, you will trouble me no more!  I am “out of my mind” and into my faith in the sufficiency of the word to bring to pass every dream, every vision, every calling, and every blessing for the sake of the Kingdom.
