Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah. – Psalm 32:7 When a scandal breaks in the news, we find that the attempt to conceal the evidence of wrongdoing is often even more scandalous than the original wrong deeds. Interestingly enough, it is commonly referred to as a “cover-up”. Adam was involved in a “cover-up” in the garden, God called out to Adam in Genesis 3 and Adam responded “I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.” – Gen 3:10. Adam recognized his lack and attempted to resolve it his way. So he went from being covered (by God’s glory) to covering himself. He went from being hidden (in God’s blessing) to hiding himself.
There are two aspects of “hiding in God” that we will touch on. One, when we think of this hiding think yielding. Consider what we do with seeds. If we hold them then they stay as seeds, but if we yield them to be “hidden” in the ground then they are empowered to grow into mighty plants and trees, bearing fruit. In like manner, our lives should be yielded to be hidden in our God, trusting that every aspect of it will be blessed and enhanced far beyond our own understanding or abilities. Two, hiding in God is not about cowering in fear from the world or being sooooo scared of the big, bad devil. No, this hiding doesn’t stop us from fighting, but gives us a secure base to fight from. Satan is a ransacked-and-spoiled, dragged-through-the-streets, defeated foe. Open your mouth against injustice. With loving boldness, declare God’s truth among non-believers. Be careful of the world’s attempt to pacify us with being SO aware of political correctness and not offending anyone that we won’t stand (publicly) for morality or personal accountability and MOST OF ALL, we end up showing more respect for man than the awesome power of our God. No, He is our hiding place. God, my ever-present Father, thank you for being my hiding place. I am so glad that I can cast all my care upon You; for You care for me. You have given me beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that I might be called a tree of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that I might be glorified in you. You guide me along the best pathway for my life. You advise me in my spirit and watch over me. I am secure in You, I am empowered to do what is right by you and I shall see all of my supply that You have provided for me. In the name of Yahshua (Jesus) I pray. In the name of Yahshua (Jesus), I dwell in the secret place of the most High and abide under His shadow. I declare that the angel of the LORD encamps around me and delivers me from the presence of evil. I will not fear what flesh can do to me. Satan, I resist your efforts to meddle in my life for the Lord YHWH (God) is my salvation and my hiding place. World, you will never make me ashamed to stand or speak for my God who gave Himself for me and blessed me exceedingly. I will live, love, give, and walk in respect to the Father at all times for He is my hiding place. Psalm 119,11; Isaiah 61:3; Psalm 91 (photo: Fort Walney in Cumbria, GB by Christina Rose Howker)
