"If you simply believe the Bible then that's sufficient for you, but the world is asking good questions and if we can't answer the good questions that the world is asking then they have no reason to listen to us at all." - Dr. Grady McMurtry There is a great misconception that faith and science cannot co-exist, but the reality is that they work best together, especially when the science is done in truth without bias.

Medical terminology can be quite intimidating and confusing, even for people in the field. Moreover, add to it the authoritative manner of many doctors and the end result could be overwhelmed people who really don't express their concerns before agreeing to take certain medications or have a particular procedure or surgery, or, even worse, run and neglect their health altogether.Yet, with a better understanding of the basics of medical terminology, we would be empowered to take a more proactive part in our health overall. These Greek (and Latin) based root words, prefixes, and "if it wasn't safe, then it wouldn't have been approved by the FDA, right?"
The artificial sweetener, Aspartame, was first approved in the United States in 1981 in what was called "the most contested approval in FDA history" (60 Minutes , 1995) There have been several drugs and medical devices that were initially claimed to be safe by the FDA and yet, "...Yet these humble plants possess the power of rendering even unpalatable and insipid dishes piquant and appetizing, and this, too, at a surprisingly low cost. Indeed, most of them may be grown in an out-of-the-way corner of the garden, or if no garden be available, in a box of soil upon a sunny windowsill—a method adopted by many foreigners living in tenement houses in New York and Jersey City. Certainly, they may be made to add to the pleasure of living and, as Solomon declares "better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox with contention." CULINARY HERBS, Their Cultivation, Harvesting, Curing and Uses (1912) (Click to download free PDF) According to the U.S. Food and Drug Association (FDA) only a drug can legally make a claim to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Understand, then, that the billions of dollars ($5.1 budgeted in 2010) that the National Cancer Institute (NCI) spends yearly is doing just that: Looking to find and market a drug, not necessarily a cure. If a “cure” was found from a natural food, herb or supplement, two things are clear. One, it would not be able to legally be called a cure because foods are not drugs. Two, why spend billions of dollars researching something that can’t be patented for exclusive right or that people could grow in their own back yard? Knowing this, is it really beyond possibility that in order to protect the
".... From a close study of human motives in their relations to the conflict between the needs of man and the supply of nature, between the appetite of the senses and the recoil of their gratification—we will learn to decipher the signboards of evolution and become more able to adjust our means of time to the ends of Destiny. The temptations that swerve us in our attitude to diet and cause our failure to rationally relate means to ends, enjoyment to purpose, etc., are at present confronting the individual with an intensity that in many cases threaten him with extinction." The teachings and therapy of Dr. Max Gerson are known worldwide although not widely accepted by the medical establishment. He caught my attention early in ministry because we held the same core belief concerning health (me by scriptures, him by science), that there were only two real issues that gave way to sickness and disease – toxicity and deficiency, something there that shouldn’t be and/or something that should be there that was not, but nothing 'just happens.' I was teaching by scriptural basis (for spirit, soul, and body) what he had been showing by science since the 1920's. I felt that this documentary was well done in plain language and beautifully presents some beautiful truths.
I first thought that this would be just an extended "juicing" commercial. Yet, upon watching this documentary, it makes us remember so much more, like the element of "giving back" when we achieve levels of success and realize where we have come from and now, compassionately see others who are where we were. One unselfish act can set off a chain of others. Yes, we need to add more fruits and vegetables into our diet. Yes, fresh juices will absolutely help to detoxify the body. And Yes, we should cut down on fried, fast, and processed foods. We know that. Yet anyone who has traveled this type of path knows, weight loss aside, that the journey is about regaining your life and redeeming the time. No scale can measure this. Thanks B.G. for the recommendation. Enjoy all.
"This book is written for all those on the other side of hope, for the weary, and for those who despair of holding on to life — yet want to cling to it."
