Oil pulling therapy is called ‘kavala graham’ in Ayurvedic literature. It is the practice of swishing sesame, sunflower, coconut, or another type of edible oil in the mouth, which draws out or ‘pulls’ bacteria and other toxins into the oil. Usually, the first thing that most people notice when they start oil pulling is an improvement in their teeth, gums and overall oral health. Yet, beyond the mouth, there are thousands of years of documentation concerning cures of various illnesses and diseases from all over the body. This PDF from the Journal of International Oral Health reviews the background and procedure of oil pulling. This is a simple way to add to your oral care regimen beyond what any dentist could perform. Also, the links below are to studies confirming its role, its safety, and its holistic effectiveness in oral health. Beyond that, the research is up to you. May the Eternal lead your journey.
