Antioxidants and Weight Loss

A question from the file..

What is the connection between antioxidants and weight loss?

It’s an indirect one. Although you may often find weight-loss, diets systems that include great antioxidants like Green Tea and Oolong
Tea, antioxidants are about improving

our ability to eliminate toxins and protecting against free radicals while raising metabolism. That being said, don’t think of weight loss with antioxidants, think “fat loss” which is even better. Stored fat on the body is not just extra ‘stuff’ that makes the needle on the scale go up, but fat storage is toxic waste storage. Our bodies internally are like our bodies externally…busy. If we can put stuff off to deal with at a later time, we will. Well our bodies act similarly and fat storage becomes a convenient place to put toxins to keep them away from vital organs and processes until the body can deal with them. This is why just speeding up metabolism to burn fat is not a healthy answer because it does not automatically deal with the toxic waste issue. So, to answer the question, antioxidants help the processing of these toxins and encourage the body to use (or metabolize) the fats for energy.
